Officials from Iran’s football federation decided not to attend the FIFA congress in Canada after facing problems at the airport. According to Tasnim News Agency, three Iranian officials arrived in Toronto with valid visas to attend the event. However, they returned on the next available flight due to what was described as “inappropriate behaviour” by immigration officials. Reports also said that the president of Iran’s football federation and another senior official went back to Turkey after the incident. No detailed explanation of the situation was given. The FIFA congress is being held in Vancouver this week. Canada is also one of the host countries for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, along with the United States and Mexico.
