Hegseth Says the Best Are Serving

Hegseth told the cadets that the “best of the best” do not necessarily live in major political, entertainment or financial centers.

Instead, he pointed to Colorado Springs, military service academies, ROTC programs and basic training as places where young Americans are choosing to serve.

He said young people join the military to do something meaningful, rather than to become famous, go viral, gain clicks or become celebrities.

Hegseth said this commitment comes from something “deeper” and “bigger” that he described as something the American Republic has always required.

His visit was part of the broader Send Me Tour. Officials said he was scheduled to address about 3,500 cadets and administer the oath of enlistment to new recruits at the Air Force-Navy football game.

Hegseth also said that more oil was moving through the Strait of Hormuz than before the Iran conflict began.
