An EU official says more than half of Lebanon’s population now relies on humanitarian aid to survive because of the ongoing war.
EU crisis management chief Hadja Lahbib made the statement after meeting Lebanese President Joseph Aoun in Beirut. She said over three million people need help across the country.
According to Lahbib, the European Union has already provided 100 million euros in aid since the war began on March 2. The EU has also sent several planes carrying humanitarian supplies to Lebanon.
Lebanese authorities say Israeli attacks have killed more than 2,700 people and forced at least one million people to leave their homes since early March.
Israeli forces are still present in parts of southern Lebanon, where entire villages have reportedly been destroyed during the fighting.
