Lebanese Prime Minister Nawaf Salam held talks with Syrian President Ahmed al-Sharaa to strengthen ties between Lebanon and Syria.
The meeting focused on border security and stopping the smuggling of weapons and drugs between the two countries. Syrian authorities recently announced arrests and operations against groups linked to Hezbollah.
Both governments are also discussing trade, economic cooperation, the return of Syrian prisoners held in Lebanon, and the situation of more than one million Syrian refugees living in Lebanon.
The talks come during ongoing regional tensions and security concerns in the area.
