Qatari Prime Minister Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani said the Strait of Hormuz has become a “weapon” during the ongoing war involving Iran, the US, and Israel. Speaking alongside Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan, Sheikh Mohammed said the conflict and restrictions in the Strait of Hormuz are creating serious problems for the Middle East and harming Gulf economies. He said the crisis is limiting freedom of maritime movement and affecting trade and energy supplies across the region. Qatar’s prime minister also warned Iran not to use the Strait of Hormuz to pressure or “blackmail” Gulf countries. Iran has blocked the key waterway since the start of the conflict, raising concerns about global oil and gas shipments.
