At least nine people were killed and 28 injured in new Russian drone attacks across Ukraine after the ceasefire expired on Monday. Ukrainian officials said 14 regions were attacked during the latest wave of strikes.
The hardest-hit area was the Dnipropetrovsk region, where eight people died, including two in Kryvyi Rih, the hometown of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky. Many homes and buildings were also damaged.
Ukraine said Russia launched 139 drones in 24 hours. The Ukrainian air force claimed most were intercepted, but several drones hit civilian areas, including railway infrastructure.
Meanwhile, Russia said it shot down hundreds of Ukrainian drones overnight. Russian officials reported damage to industrial facilities and a gas processing plant, but no deaths were reported.
The fighting increased again after the US-brokered three-day ceasefire ended, with both sides accusing each other of breaking the truce.
