Israeli media say the country’s military has been placed on high alert because of fears of renewed conflict with Iran. According to reports, Israel is ready to join any future US military action against Iran if the situation escalates. Public broadcaster Kan reported that an Israeli security official said the country could target Iran’s energy infrastructure during any new attacks. The reports came after a phone call between US President Donald Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Sunday. The call reportedly lasted more than 30 minutes and focused on the growing tensions with Iran. Channel 12 reported that the discussion happened while preparations for possible renewed fighting were already underway. The broadcaster also said Israel expects the United States to warn it before any military strike happens, although the exact timing remains unclear. The report added that Trump is facing pressure from several countries, including China, to avoid another major conflict in the region and instead continue diplomatic talks with Iran.
