Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said emergency workers are continuing nonstop efforts in the village of Myla in the Kyiv region after a major Russian strike. According to Zelenskyy, rescue teams have extinguished most of the fires caused by the attack. Explosive ordnance disposal teams from Ukraine’s State Emergency Service are also working around the clock to find and safely remove unexploded weapons and other dangerous materials. Zelenskyy said the area has been heavily contaminated with explosive hazards, meaning the cleanup could take a long time. He thanked emergency workers and other services for staying at the site and helping local residents. The attack has caused a heavy loss of life. Zelenskyy said 38 people were killed, while 20 others were injured, including two children. Four people are still missing, and search teams are continuing their efforts to find them. The Ukrainian president also warned that Russian attacks have continued in Kyiv and several other regions. He said there have been many air raid alerts because of Russian jet-powered drones. Some of these drones have hit residential buildings and civilian infrastructure. Zelenskyy said protecting civilians from Russian attacks remains one of Ukraine’s main priorities. He called for stronger air defenses to protect cities, homes and critical infrastructure. He said that during the past week alone, Russia launched nearly 2,000 strike drones, more than 1,600 aerial bombs and 31 missiles against Ukraine. Zelenskyy also said that some of the missiles included North Korean ballistic missiles. According to Zelenskyy, attacks have remained frequent in frontline and border areas. He specifically mentioned Nikopol, Kramatorsk and Kherson, as well as communities in the Kharkiv, Zaporizhzhia, Dnipro, Donetsk and Sumy regions. Zelenskyy said Ukraine wants a response to every Russian attack and alleged war crime. He also thanked countries and organizations helping Ukraine strengthen its air-defense systems. The latest attacks highlight the continued danger faced by civilians across Ukraine. Rescue workers remain focused on clearing damaged areas, finding missing people and removing unexploded weapons, while Ukrainian authorities continue seeking stronger protection against further Russian strikes.
