Russian President Vladimir Putin has said that Russia temporarily stopped strikes on Kyiv after receiving an official request through diplomatic channels. According to Putin, no Russian strikes have been carried out on Kyiv since midnight. He said the Ukrainian side has also significantly reduced the number of attacks. However, Putin stressed that Russia and Ukraine did not agree to a ceasefire lasting more than three days. Putin also spoke positively about ongoing contacts with the United States. He said US President Donald Trump continues to take an active role in efforts to resolve the Russia-Ukraine conflict. The Russian leader said meetings and communication with US representatives are useful for Moscow. He specifically mentioned US special envoy Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner, saying Russia is comfortable working with both of them. Putin's comments came as American representatives continued diplomatic efforts aimed at finding a possible path toward ending the war. Witkoff, speaking about his meeting with Putin, described the conversation as one of the most memorable experiences of his life. He thanked Putin for the meeting and said he had an opportunity to discuss important issues related to the conflict. Witkoff also delivered a personal message from the Gilman family, thanking Putin for his role in the release of a family member. He additionally conveyed best wishes from President Trump to Putin. After their meetings in Moscow, Witkoff and Kushner are expected to travel to Kyiv for discussions with Ukrainian officials. The diplomatic activity shows that Washington is continuing to communicate with both Moscow and Kyiv in an effort to reduce fighting and explore a possible peace agreement. However, the situation remains uncertain. While Russia says attacks have decreased, there is still no broad, long-term ceasefire between the two sides. Further negotiations in Moscow and Kyiv could determine whether the recent reduction in fighting develops into a wider agreement.
