Ukraine says it has carried out new strikes against Russian military and oil facilities in the Krasnodar region as it responds to continued Russian attacks across Ukraine.
According to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, Ukrainian forces struck targets in Novorossiysk over the past 24 hours. The targets reportedly included a naval base, military port facilities, an oil-loading terminal and warships capable of carrying Kalibr cruise missiles.
Zelenskyy thanked Ukraine’s security and military forces for carrying out the operation. He praised the Security Service of Ukraine, Unmanned Systems Forces, Ukrainian Navy, military intelligence and Border Guard Service for what he described as a precise operation.
He also called for stronger long-range capabilities that can put pressure on Russia and make the consequences of the war felt inside Russia.
Meanwhile, Russian attacks continued across Ukraine. In Kyiv, a Russian drone hit a residential high-rise building in the morning. Four people were injured, while emergency workers responded to the attack and extinguished a fire.
In the Odesa region, a Russian strike hit the international Starokozache border crossing with Moldova during the night. The crossing has been temporarily suspended. Ukrainian officials said two people were killed and three others were injured. Rescue teams also evacuated 16 people from the area.
Emergency workers are continuing to deal with the damage caused by Russian attacks in several other Ukrainian regions, including Dnipro, Mykolaiv, Zaporizhzhia, Kharkiv, Zhytomyr and Kyiv.
Zelenskyy said the international response to Russia’s attacks has not been strong enough. He argued that Russia should not be allowed to continue missile and drone attacks without facing consequences.
He called for stronger international sanctions against Russia and continued military and political support for Ukraine. According to Zelenskyy, countries supporting Ukraine already understand what is needed to help the country defend itself.
The latest developments show that attacks are continuing on both sides as the war enters another difficult period. Ukraine is seeking to strike Russian military and strategic facilities farther from the front lines, while Russia continues launching drones and missiles against Ukrainian cities and infrastructure.
Zelenskyy said the main goal should be to stop Russian aggression before it spreads further. He also thanked Ukraine’s international partners and everyone helping the country respond to the ongoing war.
Summary
Ukraine says it struck a Russian naval base in Novorossiysk, damaging military facilities, warships and an oil-loading terminal. At the same time, Russian drone and missile attacks hit several parts of Ukraine, killing two people and injuring others.
