China has shown concern after the United States stopped and seized an Iranian cargo ship. China called this action a “forced interception” and asked all sides to act responsibly.
A Chinese foreign ministry spokesperson said the situation in the Strait of Hormuz is already sensitive and complicated. He urged countries to avoid making things worse and to help restore normal ship movement in the area.
Earlier, the US said it had fired on and taken control of the Iranian ship because it was trying to avoid a blockade.
Iran strongly reacted to this incident, saying the ship was coming from China and calling the US action “armed piracy.” Iran also warned that it may respond to this move.
The situation has increased tensions in the region, especially in the Strait of Hormuz, which is a key route for global trade and oil transport.
