A senior Iranian adviser, Mahdi Mohammadi, has strongly rejected the US decision to extend the ceasefire. He said the move by Donald Trump is just a trick to gain time for a possible surprise attack.
Mohammadi, who advises Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, said the ongoing US “siege” is similar to continued bombing and should be answered with military action. He added that Iran should now take control of the situation.
Tensions remain high as the US Navy continues its blockade in the Strait of Hormuz. Reports also say US forces recently boarded an Iranian-flagged cargo ship.
The situation shows growing conflict between the two sides, with risks of further escalation in the region
