Lebanon’s President, Michel Aoun, has suggested that peace could come if Hezbollah stops its actions or is disarmed. Some people in Lebanon agree with this idea.
However, many others, especially Hezbollah supporters, strongly disagree. Hezbollah’s leader has rejected any talks with Israel, saying such discussions could create more instability and risk Lebanon’s land.
Hezbollah has also asked the government to cancel its plan to disarm the group. On the other hand, the United States and Israel believe that disarming Hezbollah is necessary for long-term peace.
The main issue is that Lebanon’s government does not have enough political unity or military power to take such a step.
