Iran has strongly criticized Bahrain for taking away the citizenship of 69 people. Bahrain says these individuals supported Iran and worked with foreign groups. Bahrain’s Interior Ministry announced the decision, accusing the group of sympathising with Iran and being involved with outside forces. Iran disagreed with this action. A spokesperson from Iran’s Foreign Ministry, Ismail Baghaei, said this move shows unfair and discriminatory behavior by Bahrain’s government. He also said Bahrain is trying to distract people from bigger issues in the region, including its support for actions against Iran. Iran believes the decision is a violation of human rights.
