A US congressman, Pat Ryan, has strongly criticized the Pentagon chief Pete Hegseth after six American soldiers were killed in Kuwait. The soldiers died in a drone attack believed to be linked to Iran.
Ryan questioned why the troops were sent to a location that may have been a high-risk target. He asked whether intelligence had already warned that the area could be attacked and was not safe from drones.
Hegseth responded by saying the military had taken steps to protect the troops and that those who died are honored every day.
However, Ryan said survivors told CBS News that they were not properly prepared to defend against a drone attack. He also accused Hegseth of not taking the situation seriously and called on him to resign.
