Joseph Aoun said Israel must respect international law and stop targeting civilians, paramedics, civil defence teams, and humanitarian organisations in southern Lebanon.
According to Lebanon’s National News Agency, Aoun made the comments during a meeting with representatives from the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies.
He accused Israel of continuing to violate the ceasefire in southern Lebanon by attacking towns, destroying homes and places of worship, and causing more deaths and injuries.
Aoun said around 17 paramedics and volunteers from the Lebanese Red Cross and other humanitarian groups have been killed so far. He also said journalists have been targeted during the conflict.
The Lebanese president praised rescue workers and volunteers for risking their lives to help the wounded, calling their work a major humanitarian sacrifice.
